A vegan showcase, two catwalk shows and a lot of eco-fair fashion. During the Fashion Week from 8 to 10 July, the two trade fairs Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show Berlin formed the central platform for ecologically and socially produced fashion.

Bright, welcoming, ecological: Sukha in Amsterdam sells eco fashion and homeware in a relaxed atmosphere

 

For those whose Sanskrit is a little rusty, Sukha translates as ‘joy of life’. And there’s certainly plenty of it to be had in the bright white store in Amsterdam’s Haarlemmerstraat 110. Carefully selected pieces in friendly surroundings – Sukha offers fair and ecologically produced clothing, furniture, homeware and decoration.

A new take on the wooden shoe

With its Botanic Shoes concept made entirely of Tencel® Lenzing revolutionises the trainer

 

Tencel®, the fine, highly absorbent lyocell fibre that is obtained from wood, is known as a material used for clothing and technical textiles. But for shoes? Austrian company Lenzing AG, which offers lyocell fibre under the brand name Tencel® , stormed the scene with a shoe concept that consists entirely of the botanical material from sole to lace.

Focus on sustainability at leading fairs for technical textiles

 

More international exhibitors, more visitors. From 4 to 7 May 2015, the Techtextil and Texprocess trade fairs took to the exhibition grounds in Frankfurt to present innovations in the fields of technical textiles, non-wovens and processing technology for textile and flexible materials. Biopolymers like chitosan and recyclable carbon fibres assumed centre stage. Some products were also distinguished with the Techtextil Innovation Award.

Upturn in the organic cotton market: the Organic Cotton Market Report 2014 shows clear growth

 

Organic cotton is growing and flourishing once again. The Organic Cotton Market Report 2014, which was published by Textile Exchange in June, reveals promising results. Ten per cent market growth, 67 per cent growth of the market value – after three years of decline, organic cotton is undoubtedly on the way up again. Nevertheless, limits still exist.

A new trade fair concept and new collaboration: Texworld Paris, from 14 to 17 September 2015, launches Avantex, a new trade fair concept on high-tech material technology.
